I want my recreation room to resemble the cozy and sociable atmosphere of a wine bar/ French or Italian cafe. What colors do you suggest?
Red faux effect..
Prime walls
Paint in pure red
Go over with a dry brush with a darker red..light brush strokes..takes forever, but great look.

Deep maroon with gold accents. Lots of funky shaped mirrors on the walls would be fun.

Here in Oregon, Miller Paint has tons of colors dedicated to wine, such as Pinot and Cabernet. The line of paints is called Divine.

Deep crimson red , and sunset yellow. A mustardy yellow. I think you should sponge paint the crimson wall. Blend in two dark reds. Very warm.

Bermuda Green is a very good color for a recreation room.

Merlot trimmed with Chardonnay of course
If you like it dark and moody as I do. If you prefer a light room, reverse the colors.

Check out "croissant" and "fawn brindle" by sherwin williams. You can use one as your wall color & one for the trim, or use the "fawn brindle" as a feature wall, or put a chair rail in the middle of the wall with one color on top & the other below.
