1. Best Shopping Mall
2. Best Night Life Area
3. Best Maid Cafe in Akihabara
4. Best Arcade or Game Center (I’m guessing it would be in Akihabara)
5. Best Onsen
6. Best Temple (in Tokyo Prefecture)
7. Best Izakaya Place
8. Best Sushi Place
9. Most Affordable Restaurant
10. Best View of Sakura
~Pls include a short note on why.. Thank you so much..
1. Mall: JR Tokyo Station mall and its vicinities, Yaesu Chika-Gai, Daimaru department store and new Marunouchi buildg mall.Very large, kicky, and convenient place for overseas traveler there. JR Shinjuku station mall will be almost same.
2. Night Life: Roppongi, Kabuki-Cho, Shibuya are same same.
3. Maid Cafe: The cafes usually run scrapped and built so quickly and no particular best cafe for those kind of business everywhere. Just try to believe some barkers they always offer you best bargain there.
4. Arcade: Akihabara would be the best place such as Tokyo Leisure Land but there are so many similar game centers in Tokyo.
5. Onsen: To foreigners, O-Edo onsen monogatari theme park at Odaiba would be best.

6. Temple: Asakusa, Senso-Ji, it is almost a standard menu for foreign traveler to Tokyo.
7. Just try chained restaurant type Izakaya anyway such as Sho-Ya, Siroki-Ya, Uo-Tami, Tsubo-Hachi, Nihon-Kai-Sho-Ya, Wara-Wara, Hakken-Den etc. etc. All those are quite similar but very affordable to explore Japanese common people’s taste.
8. Sushi: Kaiten-Zuishi chained restaurant would be fine such as Uogashi-Nipopon-ichi, ura-zuishi, Kappa-zushi, Choshi-Maru, Sushi-roo, etc. etc. I think Uogashi-Nippon-ichi is quite reasonable.

9. Affordable restaurant: It depends on your interest/taste/budget.
10. Sakura viewing: Meiji Jingu shrine, Yasukuni Jinjya shrine, Shinjuku gyoen park, Ueno park etc. etc. so many and/or almost everywhere there but those popular places are too crowdy and dirty in a sense. Unknown park or riverside could be much better.

I have a school assignment that involves creating a business for our area. I’m creating a Japanese styled cafe, since I’d like to see how the blending works out. Obviously I want to serve more things other than coffee, cakes and the like, but what other things are served in Japanese style cafes? Traditional dessert/savory things are ok, but really I’m trying to break away from sushi, sake, noodles that kind of stuff. Thanks ^_^
I just returned from 3 years in Japan so here goes:
Tonkatsu curry- a piece of boneless pork loin coated in panko and deep fried cut into strips and served over sweet-hot Japanese curry and rice.
Potato croquettes (korokke)- mashed potatoes formed into an oval patty, covered in panko and deep fried. Also available in vegetable (yasai) which adds peas and corn to the potato mix.
Milk tea-Royal, apple, and banana are all popular forms of milk tea
Omelet- holy cow do they LOVE omelets, whole restaurants are devoted to them. A huge pile of scrambled egg omelet served over rice with any number of toppings, curry, ketchup, beef, etc
Stuffed buns-large yeast rolls that have fillings like curry or red bean paste
Gyoza- delicious pork and onion dumplings in a thin wrap that are steamed and served with soy sauce and chili oil
Edamame- boiled in salty water for a few minutes and then shocked in cold water, you are given a bowlful to split open and enjoy
Ramen- however obvious it comes with three types of broth salt, miso, or soy
Hope this helps, we loved Japan and would go back in a moment!

I thought about buying some watermelon today at a cafe on campus so I put it on my tray and then later decided that I didn’t want it.
The only reason why was because it was on the shelf that the sushi and salads (both are in containers though). The watermelon was wrappe in celophane but I don’t know how good it was wrapped.
I ended up eating after I got other food- the only thing I’m wondering if I did something wrong. I was eating pretzels and I was conscious of the fact that maybe there could be animal product on my hand since the dining on campus is terribly unorganized and the people working are not diligent when handling food. But I’m wondering if everything is actually okay- and if it’s my OCD again. (another question was similiar to this)
For all I know if there was animal product it could be everywhere, since after I ate lunch I never washed my hands.Should I worry about things like this? Have I broken vegan rules? do I start over time?
are you in this for the label of being vegan or are you in it for other reasons like health/animal rights? if it isn’t just to be vegan and there is something more profound making you choose not to consume / use animal products then don’t sweat it. there are no set in stone rules for being vegan (although there are guidelines) and no one is judging you. I try to let my intentions guide me. There is no way that one can know how commercial food was handled from the time it was produced til the time it hits your plate. If you worry about such things you are gonna drive yourself insane. if there is fresh fruit and it isn’t in direct contact with animal products, it is probally vegan friendly.
No, i wouldn’t worry about things like this (although i did at one time, til i realized that the only one who cared was me}
No, you haven’t broken any vegan rules.
No, there is no need to start over.
BTW, Thanks for being vegan and helping out the planet!
