Starting a small business is a very exciting and creative time. But, as you can probably tell by my name, it involves a great deal of risk, particularly if you are intending to borrow money to start up.
I strongly recommend you go to a Business Enterprise Centre (or Small Business Centre in WA) and see a consultant. Consultations are generally free and you can also access relevant training as well as legal advice.
Your greatest expenses are usually rent and wages but you also need to consider non-financial issues such as, what sort of lease you should sign and what kind of business structure you should use.
DO NOT start your business without a plan and a cash-flow projection. The BEC should be able to help you get some training with this.
