Well Australia was one of the most advanced vocational training programmes in the world.
For the reason if you were working as an assistant chef you would either have a vocational certificate or be on a traineeship, where you are paid little but trained towards developing your skills.
Kitchenhands (which varies somewhat is definition, from more like a chef’s assitant to a the person who mops the floor) on the other hand tend to unqualified, but often they would prefer to take someone in training or with experience.
If you have qualifications from abroad they would be recognised in Australia. In addition you could apply through some training centers to have your qualifications recognised and be issued with an Australian standard qualification, which would allow you then to do further study to progress in your career in the kitchen.
