  • Do train stations in Italy take credit cards and are internet cafes still popular?

Posted by admin on January 24th, 2010 and filed under cafes | 2 Comments »

I’m going to travel by train in Belgium and Italy and just wondering if I can pay with a credit card? I didn’t book my tickets on line so I can decide on the spot where to go next. Also, I know that there are many places with wifi available, but are there still internet cafes with computers around? I’ll be in cities, mainly. I thank each one of you for your answers and your time. You are a wonderful, helpful community!

Yes, you can use a credit card at the ticket windows or in the machines at the larger stations. There are some small stations where the machines take cash only and there may be no manned ticket windows. (The town where I live is one example, but you don’t need to worry about this at the major tourist destinations here in Italy).

There are public internet places available in many places. There are several in Venice. One is close to the train station on the right side of the street as you go toward Rialto. There are also several is in Florence – one in the underground shopping area at the station. There are several in Rome as well. The town where I live has at least two places with public internet access. If you’re in Verona, the Hotel Verona has free internet access.

yes, they accept credits cards. ifyou want to travel in Europe by train, then you should purchase something like an "interrail ticket": it allows you to travel in many countries with just one ticket, and often it’s cheaper than buying tickets one by one.
