Posted by admin on May 17th, 2010 and filed under cafe | 25 Comments »

On the New York City edition of “No Reservations,” Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern visit Ali El Sayed’s famous Kabab Cafe on Steinway Street in Astoria, Queens, for a meal of sweetbreads, a puff at the hookah, and some chat about food and world politics. Ali upstages both of them and demonstrates why he’s known as the “Mayor of Astoria.”

Umm, sort of. I wrote a couple papers on him for English after reading his biographies at Uni. He’s more of a badass character, not really arrogant. Lot’s of times, he jokes and makes fun of people, ESPECIALLY himself. Overall, he really presents his opinions and isn’t afraid to do so which makes him interesting to watch. In his biography, there’s lots of humbling cases rather than arrogant ones.
