  • Where was the Cafe Mocha invented?

Posted by admin on January 29th, 2011 and filed under italian cafe | 3 Comments »

I know the term ‘mocha’ is a Yemeni word and originally refereed to a variety of coffee grown in Yemen, but where was the drink conceived? I had always assume that it, like so many other Espresso drinks, had its origins in Italy, but someone at my local coffee shop (a patron, not employee) insisted it was an American invention and that most Italian cafes didn’t even serve mochas.

It’s like chilli con Carne/ Chop Suey they are all marketing ploys to get us to buy cheap ly produced products at inflated prices.Someone like Starbucks or similar would be the culprit.

Mocha is also used to describe a coffee bean with a "chocolaty" taste. Smaller and rounder than most other varieties, these beans are derived from the coffee species Coffea arabica, which is native to Ethiopia and Yemen. "Mocha coffee" can refer either to the coffee-with-chocolate drink, or simply to coffee brewed with mocha beans, which were originally cultivated in Yemen and exported through the port of Mocha.

How much do waiters make at lamberts cafe?

Posted by admin on January 19th, 2011 and filed under cafe | 2 Comments »

How much in tips do waiters and waitresses make at lamberts cafe? Anyone work there or know someone who does? And what they get paid hourly? Thanks!

There are two Lamberts Cafes in Missouri. One in Sikeston and one outside of Springfield. All wait staff get a very minimal hourly wage and tips are what make up the bulk of their income. What you earn will vary on which location you choose, what days and hours you work and of course what type of waitperson you are. Customers of course tip based on service. The food is reasonable but they dont take credit cards so people will have to make sure that they bring enough cash to cover the bill and the gratuity. Its not a high end place and many are families on budgets so you wont be making a ton of cash.

Does the Poor Italian Cafe in Seattle still exist?

Posted by admin on January 14th, 2011 and filed under italian cafe | 2 Comments »

I remember visiting it about ten years ago. I really loved it. It’d be nice to know it’s still around.

I don’t think it does, or at least not where it used to be. In the fall of 2001pPartners Marco Casas Beaux (Gitano) and Marianne Zdobysz (Madison Park Cafe), took over the former Poor Italian Cafe and turned it into an Argentine-style grill or parrilla. B.A. Grill’s focus is red meat — especially beef, often marinated — seared over a wood fire, finished over charcoal and served on an enameled, cast-iron grill "to keep it warm."

I want to own my own bar/cafe business but what job should i work to earn the money?

Im currently doing a-levels but i know i want to own my own business as my career but obviously i need money for a start up.

What is a good paying job that doesnt require years of training so i can earn enough money to buy my own busisness?

My dad owns his own business so i will have his help on how to do it all so now im just worried about the money situation, and if anyone thinks i can join his business – i can’t.

I’d say if you want to own your own bar it would be best to first get a job as a bartender or server or something so you can learn more about the trade while saving money for your own place. With tips, bartenders can earn quite a bit if you work at a nice bar, so it shouldn’t take you ages to save up money.
