Here in SCV, we are extremely lucky to have one of the best restaurants in Southern California, MARU, it has been like our local’s little secret since they opened. http://www.maruvalencia.com/.
I have been there multiple times since their opening about 8 years ago. This is a place that just keeps getting better and better. Maru serves French, Japanese, and modern California cuisine. Chef Jason Parks truly loves what he does.
It is true that we have mainly chain restaurants here, and we have other ‘non’ chain restaurants, but I have to really think what else I can recommend, since nothing will compare to the experience at Maru. Check their reviews on yelp. I also found sometime ago a blog with an article about Maru, with great photos: http://foodieuniverse.blogspot.com/20…
I highly recommend you to order from their Market Menu.
If your friend likes sushi, they serve excellent sushi, all prepared with the highest quality ingredients. Sushi Chef Luis is a master.
Every Tuesday they have a Prix Fixe Dinner Special, from 5:30pm-7:00pm for $25.95.
DONT skip dessert, my favorite is their version of Strawberry Shortcake, but I have tried all of their desserts and all are excellent in taste, ingredients, and presentation.
Enjoy, and if you decide to go to Maru, please let us know about your experience.
I came to Restaurant City Forum and saw the Gallery Threads, Oh My ……. So many beautiful looking restaurants in 3D! I heard that they do a lot of stacking and sadly I only play Cafe World and now I am wondering whether we can do the same in Cafe World? Anyone knows?
I play Cafe World frequently, but I don’t know what you mean by ‘stacking’. Stacking what?
I haven’t played Restaurant City, so I don’t know what you mean by ‘stacking’. So it’s possible Cafe World doesn’t have ‘stacking’.
P.S.: Are you looking for a Cafe World friend? Some friends and I could use help in the missions, particularly the gifting part, and would love to welcome another friend.
If the CAFE is raise it will most definatly result in the loss of American Jobs and in turn have a negitive impact on the economy. However if we were to raise the CAFE standard we could reduce air pollution and conserve fuel. Pollution is becoming more and more of a problem, some how we need to find a way to reduce it.
To me the CAFE standard is fining you for what your neighbor does. It’s based on the gas mileage of the vehicles the customer buys. If the customers buys to many F-150 4X4 and not enough economy cars then Ford would get fined. You could produce the highest MPG vehicle made but if no one buys it you’ll still get fined for your fleet average being to low. If you want to get people in to higher gas mileage vehicles raise the cost of the fuel. When gas was 4 bucks a gallon lots of low MPG vehicles were parked. The consumer sets the MPG of the vehicles sold.
Should the United States raise the CAFE standard to conserve fuel and reduce air pollution, even if the results could (and in most cases probably will) result in the loss of American job and in turn have a negative impact on our countries economy?
I don’t think that the industry can support a raise in the CAFE standards right now. That is to say, the new year’s fleet (which would take effect next year) would increase the cost of vehicles more than Americans can afford, given the economy. That means that there would be a shift toward the use of older, non-compliant cars, which the change in CAFE has no effect on. The result would be no change in pollution (or more pollution, as the even older cars fill the places of newer cars), and there would be job loss as you say.
So it would actually be a loss for both sides. The economy would be worse, and pollution would not be better for it. Best to focus on the economy now so that we can afford ecolologically sound practices in the future. If you’re really worried about pollution, focus on sanctions against China.
EDIT: CAFE is set to change in 2011 to include more large vehicles. Also, raising CAFE standards are the most successful historically when the price of fuel falls after high prices. We’re a little late to take advantage of the last time that happened. Also, what America lacks in fuel economy, we make up for by strict emissions requirements. A typical high-mpg european car spits out more pollution per gallon than an American car. I will say that tightening CAFE standards would act as a buffer against high fuel prices in the long run. The effect is more economical than ecological.
Of course not. With our already high unemployment what do you plan on doing with all the people who lose their jobs when you kill the auto industry and take several million jobs with it?
CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) dictates that American-made cars have an average miles per gallon that meets a government-mandated level. If they don’t, they are given a huge fine. Obviously raising the CAFE standard would help conserve fuel and reduce air pollution. However, it could also put many people out of work and have a negative impact on the economy.
Janel;
I think your assumption is a stretch. Raising CAFE standards will raise car prices, but new car buyers won’t even notice.
My concern is that since I’m ordering so little, it’s like I’m taking up the restaurant’s seats for other people.
Yes of course you can do that. You are a customer there anyway.
I’m thinking of going to Cafe Byblos for my birthday and I just want Someone’s opinion of the place before. I know they have the belly-dancing and entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays and friends have said it was a nice place I just want an unbiased opinion. Easy 10 points!
I have not been, but it has good ratings online: cool, clean, nice place, and food’s ok.
I’m going to check it out!
I want to open an internet cafe and a restaurant business under one roof, what exactly do i require to get it going and flourishing?
First thing is to do a written business plan. That will include listing all the things you need to do or get, where to get them and how much you expect them to cost and where you’ll get the money.
I was in Berlin two years ago and loved that sandwich!!! Can anyone tell me the name of the sandwich place they stop at on the Generator hostel walking tour?
Why don’t you contact the guys of the Generator hostel in Berlin
Nobody can give that info better than they can.
